Gelatine Can Be Beautiful
Wow! So I was browsing YouTube the other day and I came across artists creating really cool art: orbs of glassy, transparent gelatine with objects like flowers presented inside, which are also made out of gelatine and are created by injecting the color with special tools.
The finished product looks like an object frozen in glass or some amazing snow globe, except this snow globe is edible! I immediately jumped to my favorite e-commerce sites to find the tools to make my own!
The tools used to make gelatine art are exquisitely crafted and are fun to look at and work with. I promise to write a separate post about gelatine art tools, but for this post I wanted to show you what I created.
I was nervous, wondering if I would be able to pull off the cool designs or whether you really have to be a culinary artist to get good results. My conclusion is, yes you have to have some skill: but it takes more patience than anything else if you really want to create something beautiful. The tools really help you get good results.
I don’t think I will ever look at boring jello cubes the same way ever again. 🙂
My favorite globe is my pink powder puff flower. By using lavender flavoring or some other soft floral flavors, the whole experience of encountering and eating these treats can be wonderful.
