I was born in Hong Kong and can still recall the swirling aromas and bright colors of the local market where—almost daily—I was sent by my mother to collect fresh fare for preparation in the small flat that my mother and father, grandfather, and two brothers called home.
As a child, I loved to take adventurous train rides with my brothers from the Shatin district where we lived to the sandy beaches and wide ocean plains of Clear Water Bay. We loved to capture live sand crabs, play with my toes in the sand, collect exotic sea shells, and lose ourselves in the hot sun until my cheeks were rosy red.
I moved with my family to the United States as a teenager, where I learned English and became a United States citizen. I pursued an art degree and became an art director in South Florida, but have always been passionate about cooking and I love to focus on finding amazing and delicious foods.
I created this website because I thought lachinacucina.com could allow me to share and celebrate the fun and joyful aspects of the food I love. Thanks for visiting.
